Dr. Kara Goobic
Licensed Psychologist
As a licensed psychologist, I provide psychotherapeutic services to late adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (AD/HD), anxiety, depression, and other co-occurring disorders. Family involvement and support are often necessary to maximize success in many areas of a person’s life. My work involves concrete, structured interventions along with support and guidance that can be utilized in the home, and workplace. I have been described as a down-to-earth psychologist who integrates humor and compassion with a pragmatic, problem-solving approach to help clients reach their goals.
It is not uncommon for those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to be misunderstood; I provide information and support to identify strengths, understand labels, and learn strategies to create behavioral change. Deeper understanding, beyond the diagnostic label, often leads to increased acceptance and, in turn, to a greater capacity for self-advocacy.
I conduct evaluations for ADHD and/or ASD. Autism spectrum evaluations for late adolescents and adults can include a report with specific recommendations for employment, home or day treatment program settings. Accommodations to the workplace or day treatment program can result in significant positive changes in the person’s behavior and relationships.
I have known Dr. Goobic for ten years and have found her to be an incredibly astute professional who cares deeply about doing the best possible work with each of her clients. Dr. Goobic and I have shared numerous patients and I have always been impressed with her breadth of knowledge and her warm demeanor. I particularly appreciate Dr. Goobic’s active approach in psychotherapy, which helps her patients achieve their best possible outcomes and her particular expertise in autism spectrum disorders. Overall, I give Dr. Kara Goobic my highest possible recommendation.
