I have been described
as a down-to-earth psychologist who integrates humor and compassion with a
pragmatic, problem-solving approach to help clients reach their goals. As a licensed psychologist I provide psychotherapeutic services to
children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum, attention deficit,
anxiety, depression and other co-occurring disorders. My work with clients diagnosed with Aspergers (high
functioning autism or ASD) involves concrete, structured interventions along
with support and guidance that can be utilized in the home, school and
As a specialist in autism spectrum disorders I also conduct autism spectrum evaluations for children, adolescents and adults. My reports include specific recommendations for employment, home or classroom settings.
I make myself available for school consultations and home-based visits to help determine how accommodations to the environment can elicit change. Family involvement and support are also important parts of my work to help individuals maximize success in different areas of their lives.
Embracing the model “Parents know their children best”, I ask lots of questions to determine what works and what doesn’t work – to avoid “recreating the wheel” in treatment. I often recommend specific reading materials for clients and their families to provide knowledge about disorders. All of us have strengths and weaknesses – our brains work in very different ways; so I consider it my job to provide information and support for understanding labels, learning strategies to manage behavioral change and identifying strengths inherent in each individual.
